CEO Alison Rowe’s reflections on 2020

With 2020 drawing to a close, I acknowledge this has been a most challenging year for our community: beginning with heatwaves, bushfires and smoke pollution across the nation, to global disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In March 2020, AEF switched to working remotely and continued to deliver our energy advice services to all Australians at a time when it was most needed, with people spending more time at home and home-related energy bills increasing dramatically.

Despite the challenging events of this year, we’ve had the opportunity to celebrate AEF’s 20th Birthday with a virtual morning tea with our board and team, and mark the occasion with commemorative Indigenous artwork to honour our journey over the past two decades.

As we look to 2021 and a new year, our vision for an equitable zero carbon society has never been more important, as we all experience the impacts of the climate emergency and extreme weather events globally.

Thank you for being a part of our community to demonstrate that change can happen.

I wish you a safe holiday period and a smooth start to the new year. Please note: our offices will close on Thursday 24 December 2020, reopening on Monday 4 January 2021. My team and I look forward to supporting you in 2021.

Yours in kindness,

Alison Rowe
Australian Energy Foundation CEO
