Actsmart Home Energy Assessments for Renters Program

Don’t own your home but need to reduce your energy use and not sure where to start? Renters in the ACT can now access FREE advice through the Actsmart Home Energy Assessments for Renters program. This program will provide renters in the ACT with a free 60-minute home energy assessment, to help renters reduce their energy costs. Home energy assessors can also help you to compare the running costs of domestic appliances and provide simple tips to save energy. The ACT Government has engaged the Australian Energy Foundation to deliver these assessments.

Sign up for a FREE home energy assessment with our energy experts – currently available over the phone or in your home.

Each rental household that completes an in-home or phone assessment will also receive a free heated throw rug – a great way to keep warm in winter while keeping your electricity bills low.

Frequently asked questions

The HEA will be delivered by one of our qualified energy assessors and will be approximately 40mins – 1hr. You can choose to have the assessment done by phone call or a visit to your home.

During the HEA you will be asked to walk around your home to show different parts of your home to the energy assessor, for example windows, gaps under doors.

The energy assessor will discuss actions you can take in your home to improve its energy efficiency. After the HEA, the assessor will email you a summary report listing the recommended actions.

Many of the recommendations will be easy, no-cost tips you can do yourself, however other improvements might require the expertise of accredited installers. Your energy advisor will talk you through your options.
